How many people from your high school class went to...?

The only statistics I could find about my high school were about crime, drop-out rates, and athletics. They never really cared if we went to college or not though. Judging from facebook the people I knew either went to a state school, community college, work force, or they dropped out of college after a year or so.

I’m pretty sure if any of us actually made it into a top private school or Ivy we would have made the city news paper. And if any of us could have afforded an Ivy or top private school we probably wouldn’t have been stuck at that high school.

My high school’s newsletter had a list of where everyone was going, but I really don’t feel like going through and calculating the percentages… there are around 430-ish kids in my graduating class, and out of those, most are going to the state university (ranging from those who probably barely got in to those who were awarded merit scholarships/admitted to the Honors program). A handful are going to community college, and if I remember correctly, only one is going to an Ivy. I’m the only one attending Emory, we have several attending Vandy, and a few more who will be attending other private universities. And, unfortunately, we have several who were unable to graduate with the rest of the class.

In-state: 20/21
Out-of-state: 1/21
(HOPE had a lot to do with so many students staying in-state. I would have applied to other schools had I not been able to go to Tech for free. I’m sure that others were swayed similarly.)

Public (4-year): 14/21
Private (4-year): 1/21
Community College: 6/21

For the class of 2011, ~90% of students either went to a CC or No college (out of a class of 103).

for my school 401 students:
4 Year - 26.9%
2 year or community college - 36.7%
Technical School - 10.6%
Work/no college - 25.9%
