How many people get the Rice application fee waiver

I was wondering how many people, other than me, usually get this email about fee waiver from Rice University. Does that mean that they really want you that badly or is it one of their techniques to get more "smart" people into applying to their college?

I don’t know how many people get it… I got it too. I’m extremely excited because I was going to apply to Rice anyway - now I don’t have to shell out that $70!

Younger S got one, which is why he is now looking at Rice.

The email indicated it was because of his AP scores. He got a 5 on his Chemistry AP score, and plans to study chemical engineering.

I remember being very excited to get one last year. I believe they said it was for two reasons: PSAT score and listing Rice as my top choice after the test.

Yeah, I got it too. I used to really want to go to Rice, but changed my mind. I don’t see anything wrong in applying now with the fee waiver. Oh, and the e-mail I got told me that Rice was impressed with my AP scores too; I got 5s in Chemistry and AP Calculus AB and a 4 in Language and Composition.

nice yea thats what they told me…i guess i’m applying there

The often waive the application fee for those who sent their PSAT scores or AP scores to Rice. I definitely encourage all of you apply, regardless of the fee or not. One of the best decisions of my life was spending my freshman year at Rice. It truly is an amazing place. Good luck!
