I took three: Math II 800, French 760, and Chemistry 800
Should I take any more? Would doing so boost my chances, or would it be a waste of time. I just noticed that most Yale applicants have around 6 SAT II's

It depends on your major… If you’re going for engineering, you may want to take more sciences, but that’s just me.

Yeah I picked electrical engineering and computer science joint major

as long as you have math and a science i think you’re fine and french… nice

I’m not sure if its too big a deal. I just took two and am keeping at that.
I asked admit counselors at local Rice and U Penn information sessions, and they told me I would be better off spending the Saturday enjoying my day then taking more Subject tests, even if they’re 800s.

Assuming Yale would look at apps similarly to those two…It probably helps out a bit I guess, but if the rest of your app shows you are skilled in those subject areas, they’ll probably be little more than an additional confirmation of the rest of your app. I’ve heard taking way too many can be a bit detrimental in a way, I’ve heard the more the merrier, so personally I’m sticking with what the counselors said.

Now if Yale looks at them differently from that…well then I hope I didn’t just screw myself over by just taking two (SCEA).

If you are home schooled it would make sense to have more than the required 2. Or (maybe) if you are an international student or go to a school that doesn’t offer a lot of honor or AP classes. Otherwise, you are in a good shape.

Actually I am an international student, and my school only offers APs in my senior year, so I’m just taking 5. So I probably should take Eng Lit and Physics.

That is not true. Even CCers in SCEA do not average 6 lol.

If you are international, it depends how well your school is known at Yale. Does your school send its grads to Yale often? I guess, my point is, that the additional SAT II scores are helpful, if its hard to determine from your transcript how you stack up in the pool of the SCEA applicants.

BTW, a current Yale senior was heading our info session when we visited Y. She is an international student from a small country on an island, and according to her Yales regional rep knew her school pretty well.

I don’t think you should. IMO it’s not gonna help your app significantly much if you can stack up a couple more 800s, and why risk getting crappier scores and actually hurting your app (since you have to send all your scores to Yale)?

I’ve only got 3.

I would for sure take Physics if you are applying for Engineering intended.
