How Many Should I Apply To?

Hey Everyone,

First, I apologize about covering the Prep School Cafe Forum with my questions. I JUST HAVE SO MANY. Anyways, my parents keep telling me I need to cut down my list. At first, it was ten, then eight, now five, and they still think I need to cut it down more! What do all of you think is the best, or most sufficient, amount of schools to apply to?

Thanks again,

Five’s a good number. It depends, though, how competitive the schools are and whether or not you need FA.

5 is a good number. I’m (sadly) only applying to 3 though ):

Anywhere for 4-7 (maybe 3 if you’re ABSOLUTELY sure you can get in to at least one and that will be a good fit for you) is a good number. In that range you can have any number of reaches, matches, and safeties.

I have two, but they’re Andover and Exeter. This is because the public high school I would go to is really good, so my parents were kinda against me applying for a prep school in the first place, ahaha.

I personally think it really depends on what school you would normally go to if you didn’t get accepted to any prep school. (Hypothetically, of course. xD)
If you REALLY don’t want to go to your public high school, I would recommend applying to 2 or 3 schools you really want to go to, and then choose one fallback school, just in case.

I hope this helped! (:
Happy holidays!

@Atlanta, what were the first 10 and what which made the top 5?
