How many times can the PFT be taken?

Is it a one shot deal, or if you fail can you work on what you need for a few weeks and retake it?

Do you mean the CFA instead of the PFT?

The CFA (Candidate Fitness Assesment) is taken by prospective cadets.

You can take it and take it and take it again until you achieve a score that satisfies you, but you can only submit it once.

Yes sorry I meant the CFA. Thank you for the response!

You are allowed to TAKE the CFA as many times as you like. However, you can only SUBMIT the results online "1" time. Of course, you have to make sure you can arrange multiple times with the person administering the test.

I.e. You take the test and the tester records your scores. You don't like the scores. You ask the test; "Can I scedule another time with you next week to try this again"? They say fine and you go off an practice for a week. Come back and test it again. If you don't like the scores again, arrange another time. When you finally like the scores; submit them. Once you submit them, that's it. No more going back in and redoing it. Unless of course the academy likes everything about you EXCEPT the CFA scores. Then THEY can request you retake it. Hope this helps... Later... Mike....

Perfect explanation. Should be reposted just that way every week during this season!

Thanks. I was thinking of building a FAQ thread that can be placed as a sticky on this forum. Unfortunately, other than the application process, I am still new at this. Therefore a lot of the questions concerning BCT, training, classes, dorms, etc... I wouldn't be able to help with. But on the application part, I and my son prepared ourselves since March when he applied to the Summer Seminar. Our goal was to get the application done as soon as possible. This would allow him to be possibly considered during the early selection as well as take the stress off once school started and he could concentrate more on school work and football. We were able to be 100% complete by the end of July.

Being the packets aren't accessible by the applicants until summer, I think a FAQ about the application process in sticky format could come in handy. This way while some juniors are still in school; say May or June; they might be able to arrange some of the school stuff like transcripts, school profile, act/sat, etc... ahead of time. Or at least chat with the admin office and teachers to have a heads up. Anyway, we'll see. Later... Mike...

Did anyone attend SLS at USMA and use those CFA results for the AFA application? We are trying to figure out if we should use them or retake the test. USMA gave a "No Risk" which I guess is passing. But wonder if we should retake them, does anyone know how the AFA equates USMA results? We have the option for USMA to retake them, since we had them done at SLS but I dont know if we subitted them to USAFA if we'd have the same option to retest or if we should just concentrate on other stuff. We already had our DODMERB physical and are qualified and have a presidential nomination. Jut waiting to retake act/sat in sept/oct.

thanks

Look at the published averages for the CFA. If you beat them by a decent margin, you could use that. I would recommend doing it again and scoring higher.
