how many times for sat is too many

how many times for sat is too many

what is this your 3rd or 4th post of this? it's been answered. 3 is max, but 2 is better if possible...meaning if you do really bad the first 2 times, taking a 3rd is fine, but if you dont think you can do a lot better, stick with the 2

i think you can even take it for six times if you want to

iff you make constant progess

if you stick at one score and take for six times...lol

Can't you always pay to get old scores removed permanently? I know you can pay on the ACT and AP tests for that.. So why not take it a myriad number of times and just pay if you happen to implode intelligence all over your bubble sheets one of the times and end up with a superb score. I think taking it the 6th time and getting a 35 instead of taking it twice and getting a 28 would be worth the $200 you would have to pay to have each old score removed.. A friend of mine had that happen to him.. but he also aced 2 sat's and scored 750+ on the other 2.. So he was just having bad luck with his act's / sat's before.

dont't think you can get the old scores removed... Can anyone confirm?

The SAT score reports only show your five most recent scores. So if you take it six times, your first score won't show up.

You cannot get old scores removed.

Twice is sufficient, but if you're really not satisfied and work really hard to raise it significantly, a third time is acceptable. If you take it more than 3 times, it's just going to look like you have issues. It's like, "wow, this person just didn't know how to accept it."

if you improve each time you take it, then by all means keep taking it. It will just show that you are dedicated student who wants to improve.

depends on how much money you have.

and colleges only look at your top scores, regardless of whether you take it once or 1 million times. the only thing is, beyond 3 or 4 tests, your score won't go up significantly.

I took it three times. Once in the spring, once in the fall, then in Jan. I improved alot each time (1970, 2160, 2270) and I will be at Duke this fall. I'd say more than three times is pushing it, but three is fine. Also, if you score really well, but not "perfect," I don't think it looks good to take it again. Like illumin4tus said, they only look at your top scores...
