How many years before trasnfering?

How many years did you guys stay at the community college before transferring?

2 years, 2007-2009

2 years, 2007-2009

Same here. I will have been at a Community College for two years when I leave after the end of this semester: Summer 2007 - Spring 2009. I have completed 78 units in that time… and I also worked or interned during most of it! I’ll have 66 transferable units, though, so I will be able to take a few fewer classes at a UC when I do transfer, which I think will be good.

3 years
2006-2009

I didn’t go full time every semester.

one year …

Is it normal to take 3 years?

I want to do chemical engineering but I’m also a full-time swimmer so Its going to take me 3.

2 years
2007-2009

Vincent, it is not at all uncommon to take three years of more. I met many people who took 4 years to transfer or who have been going “on and off” for many more years than that. Especially for those that work, are doing a major with many pre-reqs (such as engineering or biology) or have many remedial courses that they need to take, taking more than two years is very common and, from what I hear, even recommended.

Depending on your major, it typically takes 2-4 years (from what I’ve seen) for Biomedical, Engineering, Biochem majors. It all depends on certain classes. Engineers for sure should take about 3 years due to the amount of math and engineering classes. I am a Biochem major, and I am taking 3 years for personal and educational reasons. I’ve decided to take an extra Physics course along with more math and also my Organic Chem classes.

Don’t worry about what people will think. Some people feel the need to transfer in 2 years because they feel it will make them seem stupid or something since they may not graduate with their peers. It isn’t true. If you rush, you’ll end up doing not so well in an actual UC or college. Do what seems right to you. (If this is your worry at all, otherwise ignore me!) :D

One year. Graduated from high school last year (Class of 08’!!!).

1 year for me but it depends on your major and how many prereqs you need. You can still do it in less than 2 if you take full load +, every semester including summer/winter.

Three years, 2006-2009, with two part-time jobs. I was considering staying a fourth because I didn’t get into Davis, but UCSC is giving a pretty nice financial aid offer (UCSB doesn’t have theirs ready for me yet and I haven’t heard from Irvine). Plus I’m really just ready to move on.

yeah my major’s pretty chill so i did it in 1 year
poli sci

3 years
but I didn’t go full time
and had to take extra classes for the scholars option (TAP)

one year…almost one semester.

Jan '07 - Dec '09, 3 years, but I switched majors half-way through.

One Year. Also Class of 08!

Wow 1 year, nice.
1 1/2 here

^I’m thinking about doing that if I some how because of a horrible horrible unforeseen fu ckup do not get into ucsd(dream school). but realistically even if that does happen I’ll probably end up going to ucsb instead.
