My son has just discovered that the college he will attend requires either four years of a language in HS or a score of at least 600 on a language SAT 2. He has three years of HS Honors Spanish, which he hated and which he usually got about a B- in. (Trashed his GPA, it did.) He is not taking Spanish this year (senior year). If he can't get 600 on the test, he'll have to take a language in college, which he does NOT want to do.

So my question is...how hard is it to get a 600 on the Spanish SAT if you aren't gifted in languages? The Collegeboard recommends three to four years of HS Spanish or "two years of intense preparation" before taking the exam.

I'd be interested to hear from the CC community about how much Spanish preparation and how many years of HS Spanish correlated with a score above 600.
