In general, how many colleges should one apply to? I have one main college I really want to go to, but obviously there's the chance I won't be accepted..so how many more? I'm looking at a career as a medical doctor..so if anyone also knows any schools with good pre-med programs, that'd be great too. And schools that aren't very crowded is a plus too..I've grown up in a rural area all my life, and I don't like huge, crowded cities like D.C. Thanks for any responses. This whole college search is exciting but very tedious too..

how many? that's a pretty controversial question. Some say 5-10 (or less) some say everywhere (people who applied to 15-25+). I say 1 real safety, if necesary 1 financial safety, and a good hashing of match and reach schools

maybe Juniata?

See the kids who apply to 15-25 schools are kids who probably are applying to mostly reaches like US News top 15 schools. But if you really only like one school and that school is more of a match then anywhere from 2-6 should be enough to apply. But if you can only find one school that matches your needs then you probably haven't researched colleges well enough because like one of my counselors said, which i found true, is that if one really looks into schools, then there should be at least 4 schools that meet all your needs and you could easily be happy at. Don't just add schools to your list just because of the program, seriously research schools where you can see yourself happy at including your safeties.

lol I see you everywhere celebrian. You must have a fast computer ;) The Juniata site won't work, but I can look it up in this fat college book I have. I was thinking 5-10..15 or more seems like..a lot.

yep, I'm always popping up all over the place! 5-10 is standard at my school. 1-2 safeties, 1-4 matches, 1-4 reaches.

Thanks for the response liek!
