I'm just curious, I'm a high school junior with a 3.9 unweighted, I have taken some AP courses, and am currently taking a few more.
I also have a couple questions as to what counts for something being weighted. For instance, are Concurrent Enrollment classes weighted?
Also, I go to a high school with an Early College program, which means I can take undergraduate college classes on campus. Would they weight the Biology 1610 class I'm taking right now or not?
And back to the title of this, how important are weighted GPAs?

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m trying to get into a college that normally takes a 3.5 GPA. I’m at a 3.25 because my freshman year wasn’t too great. I’m wondering if they’ll look more at my academic growth than my GPA?

Most of the Top schools are concerned whether you took the most rigorous schedule that is offered at your HS. To the extent that your weighted GPA reflects a more rigorous course load – they care a lot.

Aside from that colleges look at transcripts each in their own way. Presumably they have a way to standardize (i.e., different schools use different grading systems). Some specifically say that they recalculate GPA to eliminate 'weighting. So, it’s all over the place.
