I have a slight issue. I can finish all my required college classes by the end of next year, but am forced to stay an extra year because of my school's residency requirement (that I can't get around). I feel an extra year would be a waste of time even though I'm not paying for my education, and am considering taking 12 credits and then dropping them after the official drop date. That way (assuming I can get a full-time job) I can work full-time, and obtain my diploma after a year of work (since by then I will have fulfilled my residency requirement). However, my last year of college will be full of W's for dropping after the official drop date.
My GPA will probably be mid3.8s, and I do not plan on getting any other W's on my transcript.
Will this significantly hurt my chances of getting a second job?

What did you end up doing ?

Um, I’m fairly certain that this isn’t how your college’s residency requirement actually works. But it’d be interesting to know what happened–it’s probably better to PM the OP than revive old threads, though.

Out of curiosity I looked at the OP’s posting history. In 2008 he posted that he was a high school senior planning on taking a gap year due to being accepted at MIT but waitlisted at Harvard and Princeton.

Not a credible poster.
