How much do percentiles matter?

Do colleges look at your score or also consider your percentile? i got 74% in one of my subject tests which is awful... :(

I consider anything under 90% awful. I got both my subject test scores under 90%. =0 To me it doesn’t matter if they look at percentile or my scores, because anything not 800 is considered awful to me.

Raw score certainly matters, but percentiles give a better idea of how you did in the broader picture. It allows them to compare your results with results of people who took the same test on different dates. They’re important, I’d say.

well, according to a book I read (A for Admission), Dartmouth places emphasis on your SAT, SAT II scores, and AI (no need to know it). Basically, they average your combined SAT II scores, so percentiles shouldn’t really be that important.
