Donna, Can she visit the school with the open house, on a regular day, and then schedule an interview at the other school (that day), or take a local interview/even a phone interview? I would go and let her take the ACT. It seems that there is little lose, as long as she does not send out the scores until she views them first. If she takes the ACT, I wish her luck!

BTW, we crossed posted before.

Donna101, Open House & college interviews are less valuable than the ACT score in your daughter' situation. Besides, OH and int can be done later. Let her give the test.

SAT's are important, but according to this quote from a college rep from a top school "they're important, but not as importnat as you think."

It was in the TeenStar section of the KC Star

Donna, she didn't prep much for the ACT. She did, however, take an SAT prep class the semester before she actually took the ACT (which she took in hopes of circumventing the SAT). I'm not sure if it's even too late to sign up, but maybe your daughter could look at a prep book at a local book store to see what she thinks? May I ask (and I understand that you might not want to answer) how low the scores were? My daughter's were 430M, 470V, 490W versus a 28 ACT.

Oh, I don't mind revealing them at all! Her best of two tests, were: 460 critical reading, 430 math, and 530 writing.

I did reschedule those college visits and she will take the ACT on Saturday. I got two study books out of the library and she's prepared to spend the last two nights looking through them. I feel it's the right decision, and I'm glad to see I've got company!
