someone told me that it's like

GPA>SAT1>SAT2>EC>ESSAYS>RECOMMENDATIONS

how important are the essays??

Seeing that only a handful of schools require SAT II's, I think they are the least important. If they were more important than essays and ec's and recommendations, they would be required.

I talked to a Harvard admissions officer recently, and she said essays are greater or equal to ECS in importance. However, it's all subjective imo.

it really depends on the school...

-"It can cure the sick, but it can't raise the dead"

Well, if you write your college essays on paper, they probably only weigh a couple ounces. If you do it on the computer, then it's virtually nothing.

To be frank with you, they are all essential to the college application process. It's like pieces of a puzzle. Sure, maybe one piece is bigger than the other, that doesn't mean the rest is less important. Is there a particular reason why you ask this question, if I may ask?

It is also depends on the school you're applying to. Some school don't even look at your SATs scores. I think essays are the most important in the application because it's the only part in college application that you have some control over...and trust me, colleges know that. If you need help, I'll be more than happy to help you.
