how much does a letter from the dean of admissions help?

my dad's frosh adviser from college went on to become dean of admissions and my dad rangled me a private interview and letter of rec. how much does this help and is it even out of the ordinary?

Wait, this is a dean of admissions writing a letter to himself?

well i dont think he handles individual admissions, so i assume hed be writing it to the admissions board beneath him

The dean of admissions at most school puts the final stamp of approval on every accepted application.

Lol…Consider yourself in.

Congrats.

well its haverford and i don’t think they let you in that easy

bump10char

as long as you have fairly acceptable stats you should be in.

Why would you name the college? Just for your indiscretion you should be rejected.

^Agree. Admissions professionals read this site. I’m sure the Haverford Director of Admissions will be delighted to have it out there that he’s assisting in getting his friend’s kids in.

I don’t think the letter will make a difference. It sounds like to avoid alienating a friend, the dean agreed to interview you and then write a letter to presumably himself supporting your admission. The letter seems meaningless to me as the dean probably has the final word on all admissions anyway.
