How much does attendance matter for admissions

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any info on how heavily attendance impacts college admission decisions, if at all.

All my absences are excused, as I only miss class because I have a pretty severe autoimmune condition. But I do miss a lot of days, and my health has been pretty bad senior year, so I’ve missed way more days than I would’ve liked.

My grades are good and have been for most of high school, although they have suffered the usual slight drop that most second semester senior grades do. I’m just worried that my high number of absences will reflect poorly on me, though my counselor did address this issue in her rec.

Any info would be great.
Thanks

Check with your high school to see if they even send attendance records with your transcript. I don’t think it will hurt your chances of admittance as long as you maintain solid grades.

I often wonder if scholarships view it differently, though. From a donor’s point of view, giving money to kids who miss a lot of classes (even for a medical reason) isn’t the best use of their resources. It could depend on the scholarship’s origins (large endowment given directly from the aid office vs. “named” scholarships donated by individuals or small groups).
