Will too many absences hurt my college app?

<p>I'm not positive my attendance record will be on my transcript, but assuming it will be, how much or how little would having many excused absences impact my app?</p>

<p>They have all been for various good reasons: religious holidays (minority religion in public school), doctor appointments, etc. </p>

<p>I have about 4-7 per class at this point in the year. I won't have more than 8 in any class by semester. </p>

<p>My grades are not affected, I have a 4.0 UW, 4.5 W GPA. I am a very diligent and motivated student. </p>

<p>Will having a lot of absences matter?</p>

<p>probably not in all honesty, especially if they are legitimate excused absences you most likely have nothing to worry about</p>

<p>oh lordie, if it does count, I’m out of luck. In the 6 or 7 weeks since school started I’ve been absent like 8 times.</p>

<p>But I’d imagine it doesn’t since a lot of top kids at my school have sooo many absenses, not just my grade, but in years past. And they got into Ivies and other top tiers. We’re absent frequently for debate and science competitions, and stuff like that. Not to mention mental health days from all the stress. Happens every year. So far no problems.</p>

<p>They do look at total number of absences and tardiness too (it’s on your transcript!), however your number of days sounds pretty reasonable so far.</p>
