Hey everyone! I recently was accepted into Chapman University, but I'm a little worried about the cost! Everywhere I look a find a different answer! Could you tell me how much actual students are paying for the entire year and what kind of dorm/meal plan they have? Also, I got work study the first year, will they grant this to me every year? And if not and I get part time job somehwere else, do they take it out of my financial aid? Also, do they take private scholarships out of your package? Thanks so much! I really hope I can afford it here, its my number one!

In your financial aid letter, there should be a figure for the estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) and a list of the items that are included in that cost. This will include tuition, fees, housing, and meals. There also may be estimates for books, transportation, and personal expenses.

If your family financial situation does not change much in future years, it is likely that your aid package will remain the same. Work-study means that they have set aside a certain amount to pay you for a job on campus. It is up to you to find that job, and to work enough hours to make that money. If you don’t work enough, you won’t earn it. This money is for your personal expenses for things like books, etc. Many students never work enough hours and so don’t earn all of the work-study money that has been budgeted for them. Some students find better jobs off campus, and decline the work-study offers.

Each university sets its own policy about outside scholarships. Some use them to reduce other kinds of aid that you have been offered. Some allow you to “stack” them on top of their aid. You have to ask Chapman what its policy is.

Here is a good calculator that will help you compare your financial aid offers from different schools. Run all of your numbers through it, and see how they look: [FinAid | Calculators | Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Award Letter Requirements - Finaid)
