<p>UC and CSU calculate GPA from the a-g qualifying courses taken 10th and 11th grades. Courses taken in 9th grade count against the a-g requirements with a C or better, but do not affect GPA used for admissions purposes.</p>

<p>Note, however, that if you cannot qualify as a California resident, you need a minimum GPA of 3.4 for UC (it is 3.0 for California residents).</p>
