Sorry if this is the wrong board, but i have a question. At my high school, i cant decide whether to take the duel enrollment or AP course for american history (11th grade). The AP class is regarded as one of the hardest classes in the school, and there is a lot of work, plus i plan to take several other classes which will also give a giant load of work next year. The duel enrollment class is signifigantly easier, but most people tell me that if i plan to go to an out of state college (which i probably am) i should take ap and not duel enrollment. My question is, will colleges (such as university of michigan) really be significantly influenced based on the fact that i didnt take an AP and instead took a duel enrollment (which is also a college level class anyway)
First, unless it’s a fencing class it’s dual enrollment. Second, colleges will look at both as rigorous classes. You may or may not get college credit for either one. That’s sometimes the issue with dual enrollment - accepted for college credit in-state but not OOS while APs are accepted at most schools.
