I'm currently a junior interested in m&t and am quickly approaching the course selection deadline. I definitely need to take a 4th year of Spanish but I completely hate it. How bad would be taking say advanced conversational Spanish vs. Ap spanish

I doubt that it would make any difference depending on the rigor of the balance of your schedule.

Yea makes 0 difference for admission, just do what you prefer. Bear in mind though that Penn has a language requirement (4 semesters). If you take AP and do well enough you can get out of it. If you’re good enough at it though you can take the placement exam and place out of it or worst case in to 3rd/4th semester equivalents. Could be worth weighing in to your decision since you hate Spanish so much and it is no more fun to take at Penn.

Just keep in mind that to fulfill Penn’s language requirement you’ll need at least a 4 on the Spanish
AP. See http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/ap-ib-and-pre-college-credit

Or a 650 on the SAT Subject test.

I would say that they do seem to care about students having a decent number of AP courses if they were available. However, you do not need the maximum, and I don’t think they care about AP Spanish specifically.
