Hi guys, I must say my SAT I and GPA is pretty decent. But my SAT II is horrible (Math2c 760, Chemistry 670). I'm wondering, does this have a huge affect on my chances to competitive schools like Duke and Northwestern?
Thanks for ur reply!

Actually your SAT IIs aren't that bad. Yes they matter a lot for competitive schools, but you have a chance. [considering your SAT and gpa is good]

I think they look at them to validate grades in classes you took and see how good you are at those subjects comparitively. so ya.
it isnt something thatll make u or brake u

My rule of thumb is as follows: the more competitive the school, the more important your SAT IIs.

At the most selective schools, your SAT IIs are going to be as important (some say more important) than your SAT Is. At less selective schools, your SAT IIs will be less important.

I wouldn't call your SAT IIs horrible, though! If you can retake your 670 and get it into the 700s, or get another 700-range SAT II, it would be worth your time, but I certainly wouldn't despair with those scores and those target schools.
