How much does selective colleges weigh senior year grades in their decisions?

I know that senior year grades are important. But I kind of screwed up by getting a few Bs this year. I’m taking 2 post aps and 5 ap classes. I have a 87 in a post ap math class, 89 in ap physics 2, and 89 in ap economics. Overall my school doesn’t weigh gpa or give class ranks so I have a 93.49 gpa, 11 aps, and 2 post aps. I also have a 790 math 2, 730 chemistry sat, and 35 ACT. I also understand that colleges compare you against the people from the school that are applying to the same college. I attend a selective hs in nyc, so compared with a select few kids in my school who have 95 gpa, my gpa is a bit low. I’m kind of screwed aren’t I?

The most recent grades you have are usually the most reflective of how you currently perform/most predictive of how you will perform in college… that’s why colleges like to receive mid year reports and all. I don’t think you’re “screwed,” but it might be a little alarming to colleges if your grades suddenly drop out of nowhere.

Colleges only compare kids in the same school for class rank, not for specific admission decisions. Of course they are going to consider your most recent grades but 2 Bs will not be a stop sign for admission. You’re obviously taking a very rigorous curriculum and they will consider that with the grades.
