How much effect do sat subject tests help in admissions?

would 800s on subject tests help give a college a better understanding of the student if he didnt perform his best in the corresponding class?

If you score 800 on, say, SAT Bio, but B- or C on AP Bio class, it’d at least raise a question as to the class and its teacher, especially if you also get 5 on AP Bio exam.

^ If it is one test and one class you really do get a 5, maybe if among the 30,000 applicants they take the time to focus on you if you otherwise are high enough in stats to get a review, if you are a B student in general, good luck.
