How much emphasis does Stanford place on SAT II?

I took 3 SAT subject tests, and did horribly. I'm retaking in January, but that is too late to send the score reports.

How much will this hurt me?

Hmm, how horrible?

So embarrassingly bad that i don't even want to list them.

I get the sense that private schools value the SAT I a little more than SAT IIs for some reason. But, if you got really bad scores, it coudl certainly hurt you. I am not trying to make you worried, just trying to give honest opinions. And doesnt Stanford only require 2? I am getting all these college requirements mixed up.

Stanford only "strongly recommends" 2. :D

lol

I just bombed it, and I am taking it again in January. Too late to send those scores. :(

bombed? You're on CC man...I don't think you could have done that terribly, and don't compare with the "godly" applicants on this forum (in fact some seem almost unreal).

I digress, as long as you are a decent applicant other then your scores (maybe a really good essay? Fantastic rec letters? Volunteer for mentally disabled kids?)
something that sets you apart from the other applicants, then maybe they might look past your test scores.

is 690 "horrible", i mean i kno its bad but if u hav like a 2330 and an 800 on Math 2, it shouldnt be too bad rite?

690 is certainly not horrible. I know of multiple people here at Stanford who had less than 700 on subject tests or portions of the SATI. 690 may be on the lower end, but it's definitely not unheard of here.

lol thats good to hear

I'd be happy with 690, b/c it scored so much lower. Do they look at your third score? That is what I did most horribly on.

IhDCpage 06, since you wont list yours i'll list mine [cause i'm in the same situation!! LOL] i got 550 660 670 <---- VERY lower end... perhaps almost off the end... do i still have a chance?? and i only hit 700 on math section of the sat... and i have never volunteered for the mentally disabled ... oh and sorry if this is hijacking your page i just meant to put actual bad stats down, yeah now i'm rambling haha.

and if your 3 are much higher than that, excuse me then you are not in the same situation. =)

I got a 680 USH, 680 Math2 and a 740 Lit. I got a 32 Act.

I took the USH test 2 years after my class ended. I got a 4 on the AP test.
I started AP Lit this year, so not bad for 5 weeks of the class.
I just suck at Math.

I've done pretty good on Ap tests, so they should help me.

I don't know why I'm tell you all this, I'm too laid back to care about chances now. Its not like I can change them.

Shouldn't AP/IB scores be more relevant than SAT scores anyways?

i.e. I got a 5 on AP Bio but a 710 on Biology M...I think the 5 is a better representation of my knowledge shrug

I agree about AP/IB Scores but you can't fault the students who don't have the courses and ability to take those exams at their schools. I got a 680 on Math IIC yet a 5 on AP Calculus AB. I agree that the AP exam is a better representation of my knowlege, but who knows if they can hold our 5s against other people.

How bad is it to get a 680 on the math section of the SAT? That score sticks out like a sore thumb. Everything else I have is 700+.

i thought they don't require SAT II's

"Strongly recommends" is interpreted by most as "requires". :D

Virtuoso!! I have the same issue. Both my math SAT I and SAT II are 680s. Yet I got a 5 on calc? Everything else is 700+ for me as well. Who knows if that "cancels out"? I feel inadequate with my below 700 score but there's not much I can do about it at this point.
