Im a sophomore, and thinking of going to UC Berkeley if accepted after I graduate high school. I'd be an out of state student if I do get in.
I want to know how much extra curricular activities do I need to do to give me a good chance to get accepted? I'm a 4.0 student, I did JV Cross Country, JV Boys Swim, and Track last year. I'm doing swim and track this and junior and senior years following. I'm also a captain for my class's relay for life team, planning on running for class officer junior year and do leadership. I'll be in national honor society when I'm a junior, I also volunteer when I get a chance to, so what else/how much more should I do to ensure me a spot in colleges (especially UC Berkeley)

Be aware that financial aid won’t cover the ~$23,000 out-of-state additional tuition. See the net price calculator. If it is too expensive, it may not even be worth the application.

That said, higher achievement in any EC, without compromising your academic achievements, likely counts for more than just participation (even a lot of participation) in ECs.

I think for Berkeley, that should be enough. From what I’ve seen at my competitive HS, a ton of kids get into and matriculate at Berkeley, and a lot of them don’t seem to have that many extracurriculars, so it doesn’t seem like Berkeley really focuses on that (they’re more stats-based) I think UCLA does focus a lot on what EC’s you have though, so keep on doing what you’re doing if you want to apply there as well. Just make sure you get a solid SAT/ACT score next year, keep up those EC’s, and you should be good!

Thanks guys!
Is it okay if I am dedicated in an activity/sport but am not able to be president or captain of said involvements?
