Zenbadabing: My household income is around 70-80k.

Are scholarships given based on merit or need?

I never got notification on financial aid forms but sent in my fasfa around january and just sent my W-2’s, IRS 1040 and the CSS profile Friday…is it too late? ): I’m going to call monday and see.
Thank you to anyone that can answer my questions and congrats to everyone too! (: Hopefully I’ll see you at BC (:

All scholarships are based on need except for some full/half tuition merit scholarships that are given to top 5% accepted students.

Dear thankyouall : Unbelievable. Thank you for a completely misleading and incorrect answer … the only merit scholarship is the Presidential Scholarship which is awarded to approximately fifteen students from a competition including approximately sixty … and only early action candidates can qualify. There are no half-scholarships for merit, no guaranteed anything (except a bill) for the top 5%.

Dear worried_mom : I took up the charge on the merit issue this time … :-)

AHANA is not an organization…

Thanks, scottj!

ops my bad. I am sorry. I was thinking of another school!! I apologize for misleading anybody.

Dear thankyouall : No probs - this has been a “touchy” subject on a few exchanges recently! Good luck with your college planning!

anyone actually get their EFC fully met? =[

are the scholarships that are being listed FAFSA based? or are they sports/AHANA based?

lolz, like 3k in federal loans.

its fine though, not a deal maker/breaker for me, i’m pretty happy just because I got in.

are we supposed to fax them all those forms because it says i am missing all of them? i am so confused when it comes to financial aid and theres no way i can afford to go there without some aid.any guesses to how much i should be getting because family income is about $150,000 and have one sibling in college.will my minority status help me get more money?

My son’s EFC was essentially fully met, but since his EFC is pretty high WE can’t meet “our” end of the bargain. I think the actual award was 1-2k above our EFC but we still don’t want to pay 21K + my son taking out 5k in loans.

He has a couple better offers and will decide among those.

How did you guys all know to mail in your W-2’s and other forms? I sent in my FAFSA and CSS, but I didn’t know we had to do the other stuff.

How did you guys know?

Wow, IMO, 21k for BC is not a bad deal at all…!

My family makes 75,000 a year, and my Agora aid thing says that BC is only giving me 5,900 a year in loans, no grants or anything…this has to be wrong right?

Also, does BC do merit scholarships? I got into the Honors program RD but its so expensive!
feedback please!

^^^

No merit scholarships. There is, however, a presidential scholarship-

But it’s only granted to 15 students.

Sorry…

Is there really no merit scholarships? The majority of my package was scholarships but it still wasn’t enough. It’s all just very disheartening. For anyone who’s sent forms in be patient when we sent ours it took FOREVER before my Agora showed them receiving anything. If you’re really concerned you can try contacting them

Has anyone still not received a financial aid award?
