How much financial aid did you get?

Some of my forms are missing, so I did not receive an financial aid offer yet. Still, I want to get some idea of how much financial aid I can expect to get, if you don’t mind sharing.

Situation is pretty standard middle-class:

Just below 60k for a family of 4; I’m the only one who will be attending college this year.
We have a house, but have virtually no available equity on it.
No other significant assets.

Does BC generally supply lots of loans or are they mostly grants? I don’t really know BC’s reputation of generosity.

My Family Income: 23K/yr

They gave me a 36K/yr scholarship.

Loans: 5K/yr

My parents pay: 5K/yr.

Very nice!

Income: 100k
Loans: 4k
Scholarship: 14.6k
Work-study: 2.2k
Total: 20.8k
..........=/

EFC-$30,000
Interest Free Loans-$4,000
Scholarship-$15,000
Work-Study-$2,200

Extremely surprised and thrilled!

Admitted to honors college.

27K scholarships/grants
5k loans
2 k work study

Parents would owe about 21k. More than 20% of our GROSS income.

Won't be enrolling. MUCH better deals elsewhere. This is the worst FA package my son has gotten so far.

Another spot for a lucky waitlister!

Ugh... I didn't know they needed my W-2's and everything. They never emailed us and I sent in IDOC crap to Collegeboard. Greattttt

"My Family Income: 23K/yr

They gave me a 36K/yr scholarship.

Loans: 5K/yr

My parents pay: 5K/yr.

Very nice!"

hey, zenbadabing, how does that work? if the total cost is $54485, 54k-36k = 18k. 18k-5k (ur loan) = 13k?

im just wondering because mine came out very similarly to yours:

sibling in college; i dunno how much my parents make...(middle class)
35k BC scholarship
4.5k loans
2k work/study
= 42k aid; 54k-42k = 12k contribution per year?

it....still costs a little too much, i think =[

when do we find out our fin aid stuff? mine was not up on the agora

BC just upped my financial aid but sadly it still does not cover the 53K cost. I have to agree with Jamiecakes there are better deals out there (at least for me anyway). I do not live in MA so when you consider transportation I'll still end up paying more than they say.

My asian brotha, I forgot to mention the 5K federal grant I got.

EFC: $15,300

Work-Study: $2200
Loans: $3500
Scholarship: $36800

$54,285- $42,500 = $11,785

I'm kind of speechless. I'd actually pay LESS than the EFC?

Like mooseman, I am EXTREMELY surprised and pleased!!

The scholarships are annually renewable unlike the grants, right?

^^^^^^^^

Savs, what's your families income?

Oh, and Congrats!

They are Generous!!!

EFC-1k
Scholarship- 39k
Pell Grant-4,300
Work study-2,200
rest loans with about 3k uncovered

Wow, they're definitely not frugal this year.

Is Asian(Chinese) population high at BC?

From what I saw during my visit, it is enough.

is there a facebook group for asians at Boston lol?

Are the financial aid awards coming out in waves? I can't view mine yet so I was just wondering.

There's this organization called AHANA at BC, so yeah, I guess there's prob a face book group for it as well.
