How much financial aid did you get?

Just wondering, how much did you get?

$29000 ($27000 grant, $2000 work). this was really generous and pretty much sealed my decision in going to vandy!

$54,000 grant, $5,000 NMF (which eliminates my $2k work).

Not bad, methinks ;D

Im pretty sure the 5k national merit replaces grant money so you will only get 49k grants and 5k natl merit

39,500 cornelius + 2k NMF

Oh yes, I’m well aware of that, but it sounds hella more impressive when I don’t resum it! ;D

So technically, it’d be like 54k + 2k or something of that sort, or 51k + 5k if you’re picky.

$35000 Merit/Need Scholarship (This one shocked me)
$7202 Grant

So $42k

Tuition for CV so like 36,100 merit + 2,000/yr NMF and the other 18,000 or so in need based, but I just got an outside scholarshp for $5,000 so yeah I guess I’m getting more free money that won’t change my cost lol

Lauren,
Just an FYI…my daughter has a small outside scholarship–and its value was deducted from her need based aid. I don’t think they’ll allow you to have more total aid (VU merit + VU need/grant + outside scholarships) then their Cost of Attendance. There is a form you have to submit reporting any outside scholarships (you can access it on Vandy’s website). Good luck at VU and congratulations on the huge CV scholarship (that’s awesome).

$44,000 grant
2k work study
so $46k

When did the scholarship/finaid packages come in?

I am curious to know, for people who just sent in their financial aid information (css profile and tax returns etc.) how long did it take to hear back? And how much did you get?

I got mine with my official acceptance letter on March 31stish.

41k grant, 2k work study

Does anyone know, if I receive outside scholarships, will that take away from my grant or will it cover my contribution first?

Kasiiaaa: Please see post #9

I saw it, but that person also mentioned COA. My need-based grant doesn’t cover the whole COA of Vanderbilt.

kasiiaaa: As a parent, this is how I think it works (from two years of experience). Vandy wants each family to be fully responsible for their EFC…therefore they will deduct outside scholarships from the need based aid. When it’s all said and done your EFC plus outside scholarships plus VU merit and/or need based aid should roughly equal the COA. When you return the financial aid material, it specifically asks for the name and amount of any outside scholarships.
If you’re receiving need-based aid, Vandy will be delighted to learn you’ve received an outside scholarship–because it lessens the dollars needed to meet your “full need”.
We’ve always found their financial aid policies to be reasonable. Our DD is a sophomore and really loves the school.

Does Vandy give you less aid as the years go by? I sure hope not because our financial aid package is perfect right now and I hope it stays that way for my duration at Vandy!

Both of my kids continued to get financial aid at the same proportion each year. As the COA went up, so did their aid. Of course that would be dependent on your EFC remaining stable I guess (ours did).

ok, this thread is kind of worthless if you don’t post your EFC. You may get 40k, but someone else may get 4k.
