How Much Harder is it to Get Into AEM Compared to Other Schools

How much more selective is the AEM program in the Ag School compared to other Cornell programs? Is it of a similar difficulty or is the AEM school almost on the level of HYP?

yeah, i am wondering about the same question. no one seems to talk about aem (applied economic and management) and the school of agriculture and life sciences. are these schools different than the regular ivy league cornell? thanks

According to their website, 100 in 700 applicants got accepted. So about 14% chance of admission I reckon? I myself am interested in this program. I wonder if it's as tough as Wharton?

Hey Guys, I am currently a junior in AEM, and I really enjoy it a lot. It is a great program. It is indeed part of the College of Agriculture, which is one of the 7 main undergraduate schools at Cornell. AEM is a very popular program and the second largest major, with about 800-900 students. As far as it being as tough as Wharton, I do not know, but like anywhere you will have your easy, piece of cake classes and those that take a lot of work. The upper level analytical courses are very interesting and will provide you with a great basis for when you graduate. Check out their website business.aem.cornell.edu , there is a lot of useful information. Feel free to email me with any questions.

How many freshmen are admitted into AEM per year, specifically the quota for international students? Is entry more competitive than, say, the engineering school? What's the normal range for SAT grades?

yeah same question. how is this compared to the other admissions like engineering. i heard agriculture is easiest go get into

I heard AEM had a 77% yield rate (which is high!) and under a 20% acceptance rate. I think it must be one of the most selective and prestigious majors at Cornell. It's growing at a rapid and very popular rate.

I plan to apply there ED.

Does anyone know if applying out of state is harder than applying in-state. I heard from an AEM student that the majority (40%+) of the AEM class are from NY.

I don't know if it's on par with Wharton, but I'd say it's a pretty good program!

Cornell Chronicle: AEM ranked No. 4 in BusinessWeek

Outside of Cornell, AEM is probably respectable but it's known to be an easy major.

Hey i'm currently an aem major and the rate this year was something like 10-12% or at least thats what the admissions ppl told us. But don't necessarily trust the rankings because somehow we got A+ on facilities in bweek...

"But don't necessarily trust the rankings because somehow we got A+ on facilities in bweek..."

haha. i'd normally agree, but who knows what the criteria is for this section and/or what the "standard" facility being compared looks like.
