I'm a current sophomore in Honors Pre Calculus, I'm taking AP Calculus (AB) next year as a Junior.
I got a B in Honors Pre Calculus 1st Semester and I have a B right now after one test 2nd Semester.

I'm taking AP Calculus (AB) next year, I'm just curious how much harder it will be than Honors Pre Calculus, I will have the exact same teacher I do this year because he teachers Honors Pre Calc and Calculus. He is a really good teacher who has the highest AP Pass rate at our school, (over 70% of his students get 5's on the AP Test) and the other 30% get all 4's and a few 3's.

The flip side to that is though, he is an extremely tough teacher, I know in Honors Pre Calc this year, only 3 people in a class of 32 received an A. Two of them were very low A's and one was like a 95%. About 10 students in my class (myself included) received B's, about 10 more received C's, and the rest got D's or F's, (which was about 8-9 in my class)

I'm just wondering, in most peoples experience, which of the two was harder, and what can I do in the Summer to prepare, (My teacher already assigns a Summer Packet of work for people signed up to take AP Calculus, covering the important Pre Calculus topics) But I would like to familiarize myself with basic Calculus concepts before I go into the class so that way I'll be able to stay on top of things, like Limits and Derivatives and just enough of the basics to not go into the class completely blind. So does anybody have any advice to offer in that regard as well?

In my school, AP calc is considered easier

If you can try to get a hold of an AP calc student’s binder at the end of the year that would help so much to review.

The first semester of Honors Pre Calc was insanely hard for me, and the second was a breeze. AP Calc AB wasn’t that hard, but I did have to work for the A.

AP Calc AB was much easier for me than Honors PreCalc - I received a B for both first and second semester of PreCalc with regular studying; I’ve maintained the same work habits for AP Calc AB and received an A+ first semester and currently have an A this semester.

What about AP Calc (AB) did you find easier Preamble?

My friend who helps me with PreCalc shows me some stuff from Calc, and he is insanely smart and got an A both Semesters of Pre Calc Honors last year and has like an A+ in AP Calculus (AB), but I don’t understand Calculus yet so I don’t see how looking at his Calc stuff would really help me given that I don’t understand most of it.

Calculus is basically Algebra on steroids - a lot of it is just understanding how graphs work/the behavior of graphs: the two main focal points of Calc AB are limits and slope (which is conveyed through integration and derivation) - overall, I considered it much easier than PreCalculus which was more nuanced and all over the place.

Ok, hopefully its not that much more of homework because my teacher likes to give 2 hours on average a night, sometimes 3 hours on block days. Hopefully AP Calculus Problems don’t take that long to do in comparison to Pre Calc problems, because most people say they will take up a page and a half.
