How much have you improved?

Hi I am fairly new to the whole SAT thing. I took the October SAT and received a score of 2150: 650 CR 800 M 700 W
This is a big improvement from my 9th and 10th PSATs.
9th: 154 ( 48 CR 55 M 51 W)
10th: 190 ( 54 CR 74 M 59 W)
I did absolutely no prep between 9th and 10th, and I only did minimal prep for the October SAT (I'm a junior now). I'm curious as to how much you guys have improved from past SATs and PSATs and how much prep you did (if any). Also, given my improvements so far, do you guys think a 2300+ is within reach for me with prep?

I improved from 2150 (730R/780M/640W) to 2350 (800R/770M/780W) from May 2013 to October 2013. It’s funny though; my 2350 ****es me off much more than 2150 though. Total and utter stupidity kept me away from 2400. I misread radius and diameter in math. And didn’t manage my time correctly on the essay so my essay only had a quarter of an ending. And I got 10 on my essay with no ending, so an ending probably would’ve bumped me up to 11 or 12 which would definitely be 800.

I got a 210 on my psat, a 2200(800cr, 680m, 720w) my first sat, a 2180(780cr, 700m,700w) my second sat, and then i took it this october and got a 2360(780 cr, 800m, 780 w), for a 2380 superscore. I was tutored for my first two, but not for my third. All it took was hard work and determination. I used dr. chung’s as well as pwn the sat for math and erica’s ultimate grammar guide for the writing section. I just practiced, practiced, practiced, learned the techniques and how to apply them without error. I’m very proud of my 160 point improvement, because I earned it. I was motivated because I was disappointed in my first two scores, so I turned it up a notch on my own to receive what I did.

seventh grade SAT- ~770 (all 3 sections LOLOLOLOLOL)
sophomore PSAT- 175
junior PSAT- 219 (lol i was so surprised by this)
First SAT- 2020 (640 CR, 600 M, 780 W, 9E)
Last/Final SAT- 2320 (720 CR, 800M, 800W, 12E) superscored

god i hate reading so much

raised from 1980 in January (590 CR 770 M 620 W 10 essay) to a super score of 2330!!! from the October test!!! 760 CR 770 M 800 W 12 essay

Improvement by 350+ points into the 2300s is very possible with determination!

And it sucks cause I would have gotten an 800 in M this time if I had actually read every question accurately. I made two incredibly stupid mistakes (doing area instead of perimeter… subtracting the inner circle from the outer instead of doing the ratio…) I could have had a 2360!!! But I’m not one to complain with a 2330… haha

I’ve increased a little bit from my PSATS — 213 in fresh, 208 in soph; but only because I had slacked off so much in the last two years. I’m hitting my head in frustration over myself for that. I’m hoping to make up for it this year though; my SAT and ACT have been much better than before and I still feel like I need to achieve more in other fields.

Summer after 9th: 1450ish (all 3)
10th PSAT: 154
11th PSAT: 174
11th SAT 1: 1940
11th SAT 2: 1980 (2020 superscore)
12th SAT: 2100

9th - 11th grade PSAT: around 180-190
First practice SAT: 1920-ish
First official SAT: 2050
Second official SAT: 2070 (2090 superscore)

Basically, math’s my strong point so I’ve scored 80/800s consistently, but I’m weaker at reading/writing. I was able to improve writing by 100 pts with very little review though (about an hour of just reviewing grammar rules tested on the SAT).

9th grade PSAT: 191
10th grade PSAT: don’t know yet! hoping for a 220 +

7th grade SAT: 1580 (580 M, 520 CR, 480 W 6 essay)
October 2013 SAT (10th grade): 2270 (730 M, 800 CR, 740 W 10 Essay)

… so I guess I went up 690 points in 3 years LOL
Ugh I really wish I had been less careless in math, I guess I’d figured I knew everything and didn’t really bother with it. I did prepare a bit by studying ~800 vocab words and doing 4 full practice tests! tbh i dont even know how i managed a 10 on the essay… it was so bad.

11th grade PSAT: 181
11th grade sat (jan): 2020
11th grade sat (may): 2120

12th grade sat(oct): 2210!!! If you believe, you can! My math jumped from 580 to 740, reading from 610 to 720, and writing from 630 to 750!!!

I’ve improved by 340 points - in June, I got 1870 and I scored 2210 on this October’s SAT.

10th grade PSAT - 156
11th grade PSAT - 186
May SAT - 1950
October SAT - 2190
Made one silly mistake on the math and it cost me 30 points…could’ve had a 2220! Nonetheless, I’m satisfied with the score I received

Can anybody tell me what’s a superscore?

8th grade SAT-1710
10th PSAT- 179
11th SAT 198
Oct SAT 2000 (really thought i got 2150+)
taking one more time in december

Interesting. It seems like I should be able to reach that 2300+ with some prep.

11th SAT: 1810
12th SAT: 2020

Improvement is possible!

Junior here, started studying in the summer 1970 baseline (not sure the sectional breakdown). Just took my last practice test before my first shot at the SAT next Saturday and got a 2300. Prep helps for sure.

Went from a 1700 freshman year to a 2300 took the test twice

8th grade (March 2011) SAT: 1580
10th grade (2012) PSAT: 214
11th grade (October 2013) SAT: 2310 (800 CR, 800 W, 710 M)

You can definitely improve! Honestly just practice practice practice, like everyone else is saying. I know you might be discouraged after practicing for a while and not improving, but always keep practicing. I probably did around 30 practice tests total since this past March. Good luck!

first SAT: 600 CR, 570 M, 640 W
third/final SAT: 730 CR, 570 M, 800 W

Math didn’t improve at all, CR/W improved quite a bit.
