I'm trying to condense my 'why rice' essay, and I'm stuck at around 250-270 words, and even then I don't come close to fully explaining why I want to come here. The prompt says to limit it to 200 words, is there any leeway?

There's always some leeway. The admissions officers have better things to do than to count how many words are in each applicant's essay.

Try to keep it short; trim "sentence fat" and don't try to be too intricate with your sentence structures. I think Rice is trying to see how well you can explain why Rice is perfect for you without writing a book about it.

Good luck!
