<p>I'm at 215 words for my Why Rice essay, although I am under the character limit.</p>

<p>I am having a hard time cutting out the last fifteen words, but the prompt says "limit your response to 200 words," not something like "keep your response around 200 words or so," making me think that I have to be at or below the 200 word mark.</p>

<p>Will it be okay if I go over slightly?</p>

<p>I seriously doubt they will count the words. That’s why they have an automated application system that limits characters. Those word limits are in place to prevent admissions officers from having to read a novel for the short response essay. If cutting those 15 words is going to reduce the quality of your essay, hit submit and don’t look back.</p>
