I'm currently a high school senior who's going off to a community college next year. I was wondering what scholarships USC offers for incoming sophomores and how I can receive.
I have friends going there this year and most of them have national merit scholarships which amount of 50 percent of the whole cost. Roughly 28K I think?
Is there anything similar to that for transfer students?

Did you look on the USC website?

I doubt they give transfer scholarships as big as the National Merit scholarships.

However, if you have demonstrated need, you can get aid.

TRANSFER MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Amount Varies
Number of awards Varies
Application deadline February 2, 2010
Notification date By June 15, 2010
Selection Criteria

For entering transfer students only. Selection is based on grade-point average in transferable courses and rigor of courses. Last year’s recipients had an average GPA above 3.7 and** had completed more than 30 transferable units at the time their applications were submitted.**
Application process

Submit a completed 2010 Undergraduate Application with required materials and transcripts showing fall 2009 grades by Feb. 2, 2010.

Since you have to have completed at least 30 credits by the time you apply, I don’t think that will work to apply as an incoming soph. Since your hs stats aren’t very good, you probably will have to wait to apply as an incoming junior.
