How much money would you have to donate to get into an ivy league school?

"I heard you can pay the $60 something dollar application fee to get into a ivy. Or is that just a rumor"

Hahah, I'm with you there (and in the midst of this million dollar discussion, that made me laugh :)). The application fee and submitting that pesky application should do it for you.

I like these too:

"I dont know about ivys, but my friend got into UVA with a gpa of 2.9 and $200,000."

"I assume they had legacy, because I have a feeling it would be higher with no legacy."

actually i believe ivys cost 70$ to apply.

Still cheaper than what the op is willing to pay to get in.

LOL

awesome replies.

OP, tell me you are not serious. If you have so much money, you can go buy yourself a good job, you wouldn't really need to go to an ivy league school. Totally defeats the purpose.

+1 for sticky

"Basically
1) be a son/daughter of an important politician
2) donate a library or major building to the college"

I heard that Arnold Swartznagers kid couldn't get into Boston College...

I actually have a serious question...

My uncle works for Clive Davis who actually has a program named after him at NYU. If I tell them my uncle is affiliated with him in my application in the Additional Info section, will that help me out? And that same uncle is an alumni from NYU's master program at Stern...he's a millionare(president of Jive soon to take Clive's place as CEO of BMG) so I'm pretty sure he donated a hefty amount...I want a serious answer...boy, I sound desperate. Haha.

^Yes it will absolutely help, especially if you apply ED. And I LOVE THIS THREAD. Its hilarious. But like someone else has probably mentioned. Check out the endowment. If its low, than a low 7 digit number is probably ok. If it is super high (like Harvard) you will probably need a mid 7 digit number.

He should have tried Brown.

bumppppppp

Would personally take on 500K of debt at current interest rates to go to the IVY of my choice. For me the 500k number is a pure financial decision. I am majoring in econ/finance so out of HYPW I could be looking at 125-150K after 5-6 years of dillegent savings and pay increases I can have the debt payed down and be financially ahead of where I would be without opportunities/connections these schools would have provided me even after factoring the debt.
