What if any weight does having one parent who went and another family member who attending have with admissions?
I heard from someone I know who went to Cornell that if you want your legacy to help your child get into Cornell, they must apply Early Decision. It’s not going to guarantee admission, but it helps that they know that you will commit to attending if they accept you.
You MUST apply early decision. If you do not, it will NOT be considered at all. At this point, with the incredibly large number of Cornell alumni, it helps very little.
My daughter applied RD and was accepted. Did being a legacy help? Maybe not, but who can really tell?
