It was my first time taking the real SAT last Saturday. I must say it was quiet easy and I only took about 13-18 minutes per section and I ended up twiddling my thumbs staring at the clock even after double checking every question. Now I got 186 on my PSAT; I finished every section in 10-15 minutes without even double checking... Now that is not good. The double checking I did ensures a test score over 2200 IMHO. How much time do you guys take per section?

I took full time on CR due to one or two questions always requiring some extra thought and I’d make sure I’d check each question again since I would often understand things better after doing other questions. I honestly can’t remember how much time I’d take on writing. I ended up finishing math sections in like 10-12 minutes, then spending another 5 checking over everything.

I usually take 17 to 18 minutes for reading, and a bit less for writing. On the other hand, I spend all my time on maths and usually have two or three questions left at the end. I took my SATs last week, and I was ecstatic to actually have finished a maths section. Yeah…sad.

I usually take 15-17 minutes for each CR section, the same for Writing (if not a bit less), and I always go right up until the whistle for Math, because I usually like to check a lot more. Less confident in my answers, I guess. I’m taking the SAT for the first time officially this March, but have taken every test in the blue/green College Board book. On my PSAT I got a 224, so I’m hoping my system works. Hope this helps.

i took the whole time on most of my critical reading sections b/c i wanted to check everything over, and probably like 20 out of the 25 minutes on writing just to make sure i was using the time wisely. math i did in about 10 minutes since it’s the easiest subject for me and i couldn’t have brought myself to check them a 4th time. i think it’s perfectly normal to not spend the whole time on each section, but if you get your scores back and they’re not as high as you’d like, then you might be rushing everything a little bit.

I finished CR and W in about 15 min, and math in about 17-18. But then for each section I thoroughly checked all my answers right up to the end of time on the section. I highly recommend using the full time to check your answers. Usually you won’t find an error, but it’s worth it for that one time you do.

I usually have 6-7 minutes left on my cr and writing sections (not including the essay of course) and I end up with 3 or 4 on the math because I work methodically. I find that working through each math problem carefully but quickly is the best way to go because you won’t assume your answer is right when you go back to check.
