My list now is 11 schools long...10 of the schools ask for essays and supplements. I don't even know what to say for "why do you like this school"- i like it because it offers me good financial aid and isn't crappy :/. How long did it take you to fill out your supplements?

I applied to around 15-17 schools? I don’t remember, and I don’t feel like logging into the common app to check, lol. I worked for about 2 and a half months to finish. Writing essays, and rewriting like 4 or 5 times. I dedicated about 2-3 hours a day, or every other day, to college application.

If you want to shorten your school list, check if they have your major. And then check if they have your backup. My list was around 20 schools. I always checked to see if they had both. My thought process was “What if I end up hating my major and want to switch to another one, but I can’t?”

I applied to three schools - 2 on Common App (Harvard + UChicago) and 1 other (Georgetown).

Georgetown had three essays. I wrote two of them in around an hour or two and the third I did a couple of days before. Took around 2-3 days to edit them perfectly.

Then I just proceeded to copy and paste them into the other apps and supplements.

Like a single week of real effort was enough.

Are you a HS junior or senior?
