How much time should be spent self studying these APs?

Chemistry (PR)
Psychology (Barron's)
Environmental Science (PR)

Or when should i start reading these books and preparing

Don’t know about chem an environ. But for Psych, maybe 5 days prior to the test would be fine. I used 2 days and got a 4. I would’ve gotten a 5 if maybe I used 3 or 4 days.

^I don’t know about other people, but I was so stressed with my 3 AP’s and other classes that there was no way I could have learned an entire subject the week before. Out of the 3 AP’s you want to self-study, Environmental Science is the only one I have self-studied. I studied throughout the year whenever I had time, an AP study habit I recommend.

Oh puggly you reminded me of something important. I don’t remember the exact schedule, but you should take that into consideration. The reason I could study Psych in 2 days was because I didn’t have any APs in between. I had APUSH like 3 or 4 days before psych, but I prepared for APUSH early. If they’re all really close with each other, then definitely take 1 or more weeks to prepare for psych.

I’ve received a 5 on all three (self-studied Psychology and Environmental Science):

Chemistry: I highly, highly recommend NOT self-studying if you have the class available at your school. I go to a fairly smart school, and I was the only one in a class of 25 to get a 5. I couldn’t rely on any review books or textbooks for this subject, because none of them were sufficient enough, in my opinion. I relied almost solely on paying attention in class (don’t see much of that these days). If you are self-studying, heck, just start now.

Psychology: Easiest AP ever. Get Barron’s and, as chroni said, read the book like 3 days before the exam. That’s all I did to get a 5. Of course, you can spend more time to be more comfortable, but junior year was a pain for me, and I couldn’t find the time for Psych until the very end.

Environmental Science: Self-studied this during sophomore year. It’s a fairly straightforward class. Get Barron’s: it’s really thorough and I regret not having it. I had PR + Barron’s flashcards and the PR wasn’t too thorough.

I self-studied chemistry last year and didn’t find it as bad as people seem to make it out to be. Although, you can’t just read something right before the test and know everything, if you start by february or march, you should be fine. I received a 5 on it without difficulty. Actually, since my school doesn’t offer an ap chem class, I was the only person taking the exam so I finished the test in about an hour and a half instead of the usual 3 hours.

I read crash course (amazingggg book!) for Psych maybe 36 hours before the test, and got a 5. Just make sure you read the whole book and you’ll be totally fine.
