Minimum Time to Self-Study

Just curious, but how much time at a MINIMUM do you guys think should be spent on self-studying AP Psychology and AP U.S. Gov?

I self-studied AP U.S. Government the afternoon before the test and got a 3.
Maybe a month or so if you want something higher, though.

It matters how much you already know.

But basically, however long it takes to read through your choice of prep book, times three, plus maybe ten hours for taking the practice tests (read it three times to be safe). Add in however long it takes you to go through the FRQs for the past few years (no more than 2 hrs per test).

I basically slept through AP Gov (didn’t read like half the textbook) and took a supplemental government course (that didn’t really help because I focused on constitutional underpinnings) and got a 5 with no prep book. Given, it’s not self studying, but my point is you don’t need too much. Make sure you know how stuff works, so if you’re no gov prodigy, get a prep book and read.

AP Psych. I took an online course which wasn’t too high in quality and I didn’t learn anything from it. Got Barron’s, read it, took a practice test, re-looked at what I got wrong, and re-read the prep book and took more practice tests. Got a 5. The key on the test is to use logic. It’s a fat vocab test, so make sure your scientific and vocabularic reasoning is sound.

All in all, I think it can be done in 1 or 2 weeks for a 4 or 5. (The gov curve is very harsh, the psych curve is slightly nicer, but nonetheless, is no calculus BC curve.)

AP Gov is very straight forward. If you’re a fast reader, all you need is 1 day to read through your supplement book. For AP Psych, I would self-study for at least a week.

Buuuuuuump

BUMP…

MORE OPINIONS PLZ

Just start studying now. I’m self-studying for AP Psych and AP Stats and I plan on studying the whole month of April.
