Hello all. I currently have a 3.8 weighted GPA, and unfortunately my school does not weight grades for anything. The thing that irks me the most about this is that students who have taken the easiest classes their entire high school year and have gotten a 4.0 by basically doing nothing will have a higher class rank than me, someone who will finish high school with around 14 AP's. How much do you think this will affect my chances in to getting in to colleges who greatly factor class rank, such as the University of Texas?

Thank you!

Then I assume the 3.8 refers to your unweighted GPA?
Colleges know that different high schools have different ways of calculating GPA, so for the most part they’re not going to take your numerical stats at face value. They look at your guidance counselor recommendation, your school profile, and your entire transcript.

In my experience there aren’t very many of these kids. People who only take regular classes usually don’t get the best grades, because if they cared enough to get good grades they’d be taking honors classes.
Do you know what your class rank is?
