I would like to know, perhaps some ballpark figures, of how much going to Davis would cost (or at least, how to figure it out). I honestly do not know how many courses i am taking (would like advice in this, too) and which ones.

I checked in the UCD website and im offered around 20k USD in financial aid / scholarships. Is there a site or something where it tells me how much each course is, for how long, and such? I also want to include dorms, food, books, college necessities, ect.

around 3.5k for tuition you can take as many classes as you can. for the dorm i think it’s about 3.7k per quarter food included. The whole academic year is 25.7k. One quarter is about 11 weeks including the final. For the first year don’t take more than 17 units of hard classes unless you want to kill yourself. Usually 2 major classes such as math, chem is pretty tough. So try add in some elective classes to balance out. Definitely take freshmen seminars to get some easy credit. When you go to orientation they’ll tell u about your major requirements n stuff.
The dorm has furniture for you so you don’t need to worry much, just pillows, blanket, and decorations you like to bring with. Books’ cost depend on your classes. But I say around $200 or less per quarter if you’re smart about buying (take advantage of amazon, the book exchange ([ASUCD Book Exchange](http://bookexchange.ucdavis.edu/)), uloop…) then later when you sell them you’ll get more than 50% back duh (sometimes 100% back). You will use the same calculus book and chem book for the year so you don’t have to buy them every quarter yay :)

My son and I did the UCD campus tour today (he’s was accepted as a Biology major for the Fall 2010). The estimated in-state cost of attendance is $29,259. It’s broken down as follows:

My niece was on the same tour, apparently as Sdhani. She was quoted the exact same dollar amounts–$29,259, with the breakdown as indicated. The guys we met in the dorms said the books will cost less as long as you don’t get them at the bookstore, but instead use places like amazon.com or halfprice.com
