Barnard has been my dream ever since I discovered it 4 years ago. I’m just very concerned that my grades this year will severely impact my chances of admission. What are your guys’ thoughts on this? I don’t mean to sound whiny or pretentious, I’m just very worried.

I also understand that essays and test scores (btw, my PSAT score from this year was 212, which I guess would translate to a 2120?) are very important, and that the admissions approach is holistic, but still…

you obviously had a great freshman year, and if you improve over the next 2 years, your grades shouldn’t be an issue. if there was a reason for your grades slipping, your counselor can always write about that when they send in your letter. Obviously I have no idea if you’ll get in, or how your resume/grades will look like two years from now. If you want to get in, work hard, try your best and you’ll see what happens!

Really, the only thing that happened this year was that I took on waaayy too much to handle and it backfired. Thanks for your reply though; I have every full intention of getting the most excellent grades that I can the next two years, and my schedule for next year is not nearly as loaded.

if you get your grades up in the next few years you will be in good shape. Also if you get a 2100+ that will be good. Remember college admissions are very subjective. Find something that will make you really stand out! :)
