My Oct. Scores were 680 (US Hist.), 680 (Chem), and 740 (Math II). I plan on retaking Chem this December (with the necessary preparation) for ~740. I'm a prospective engineering student, so how much might a 680 US hurt my chances around the top do you think? Assume my other stats are in range.

at schools like MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Cornell etc. that will probably hurt a lot...other than the very top engineering schools though, you should be pretty good.

Why would a 680 US hurt my chances at engineering programs? How about in the context of better SAT I scores (770/780/750)?

I completely misread what you said...I thought you were referring to the 680 chem, and I didn't see the retaking part...the 680 really shouldn't hurt you very much (especially at schools that only require 2 SAT IIs)...good luck

Oh, no harm done . . . thank you.
