So in high school I worked a fair amount (1,400 hours) because I needed some spending money and occasionally my parents needed to borrow a bit from me. I was just wondering how this look son college apps for Ivies. Does it loo good and would it explain why I don’t have a crazy amount of ECs. Also I messed up and only said I worked over break (16 weeks a year) when I actually work all year because I work way less during the school year and it made me do average hours or common app. IN conclusion how will a job look for ivies pretty much. Also my job was life guarding and I am going into finance, so they have no correlation if that matters.
Work looks very good on the college aps. It shows responsibility and above all that you can manage your time. I think anything that makes an applicant stand out from others is especially important. Today is seems so many students are heavily involved in activities rather than working - a plus for you.
Working is an EC. It shows you can do well (hopefully) academically and still have time for work.
Make sure you are applying to other schools that Ivys.
@bopper Ok cool thanks, and ya I did do well academically (4.0UW 4.3Weighted 35 ACT) the problem was between my work (1400 hours) and a volunteer business I run (500 hours) I didn’t have time to take the subject test for my top school UPenn where the subject tests are “recommended but won’t hurt your app if you don’t have them” Which only applies to low income individuals. SO I hope they take that into account. Also I already applied to a couple matches as well as I already got into IU for business direct admit so I am good there but thank you.
Sounds like you are already in great shape with that acceptance! Congrats!
