Hey y’all, Ive been working 39 hours a week while also going to school which leaves me not a lot of time for ec’s. I work to save for college/supplement income in whatever way I can. Problem is my parents make 150k a year, but live seperate i.e two mortages, two utilities, two families, etc. They dont want to divorce. My question is, will colleges look down on my full time work because my family technically makes too much for me to be considered working for necessity? We dont even see half of the income. My dad’s the one that left but he earns around 5/8ths of the income so. I have pretty solid gpa at a 4.0uw and a solid sat at 1520. But I’ve seen the applicants at where I want to go and they have the same stats but have awesome ec’s and make less.
I believe that work is just as valued as extracurriculars, and that admissions officers will not be making a judgement as to whether you “need” to work or why you are working or where your money is going.
