I have got a net out of pocket package from Syracuse University @ 33K, I can't afford that much. Can you negotiate? if yes, how much it is realistic? Do you think it can come down to $27 -28K? or it's not possible to come down that much?

Yes, negotiating could help. Try to explain your financial situation to them, and highlight some points that you may not have been able to add in your FA application. There have been many cases where Syracuse has increased their FA. Good luck!

I don’t know Syracuse but I did read someone’s post “We had success in having schools “reevaluate” (never use the word negotiate with the FA office) our FA package, but only with better offers from peer or higher schools.”

From what I understand, some schools will add $ and other schools won’t. And then it depends how much they want you. Some schools will add a lot if they really want you. Other won’t or can’t.

Do you go and discuss in person or over the phone?
