Right now, I have a poor GPA but pretty good standardized test scores and ECs. I've heard that NYU is very numbers based, but I can't just believe everything someone says. So... can you guys provide me some insight on which aspect (GPA/SAT/SATII/ECs/RANK) NYU values the most? Preferrably CAS or Stern.

How poor is the GPA?

91 W. My school has a very weird way of calculating GPA… it should be around a 3.4-3.5 UW.

A 3.4-3.5 gpa UW is fine, mine was around there and I still got into Stern, but the higher the better, obviously. If everything else is great such as standardized scores, ECs, essays, reccs, it can overshadow the low gpa.

NYU is absolutely the opposite of numbers based. They look very much at the student as a whole, that’s why admission is so all over the place. Tisch, Gallatin and the talent based programs at Steinhardt are the least numbers based, while Stern is probably the only one that is very numbers based.
