How often did you have to ask for teacher recommendations?

I'm going to be a senior in high school, and I was wondering how often I'll probably need to ask for teacher recommendations? I've already gotten teacher recommendations for college taken care of. But what about if I plan to actively apply for things like scholarships and awards? In your experience, did many of these kinds of things require teacher recommendations? I'm getting worried because I don't have many teachers that I could ask, and I don't want to have to ask them for many recommendations.

I also have the same concern. I hope some of you guys can clarify this.

Same here, since MIT and a few select universities have their own app system hence I would need to ask them for a commonapp and an MIT recommendation letter. :/

Oh, and another related question I had was: does it matter WHO the teacher is, as long as they know you well and you did well in their class? Like…is it necessarily “better” to ask a teacher who teaches an AP/high-level class?
